Richard Gordon Knapp
Richard Gordon Knapp, 80 and a winter resident of Anna Maria, died Oct. 1. He was born April 5, 1936.
He was an MBA graduate of Bishop’s and Queens Universities and had long career in the private and public sectors.
In retirement, he pursued his passions for duplicate bridge, travel and spending winters in Anna Maria, where he formed deep friendships over many years.
His intelligence, humor, warmth and interest in people were treasured by family and his extended community of friends.
Funeral arrangements were by Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
Survivors include wife Carol; daughters Tambrae and husband Stephen Walker, Jennifer and Stephanie and husband Dave Muir and Shannon LaBelle; 10 grandchildren; siblings Barbara Lewis, William and Liz; and many nieces and nephews.
Norman Alcide Mansour
Norman Alcide Mansour died Oct. 2 in Frisco, Colorado.
He was born Dec. 7, 1947, in Dover, New Hampshire and, until recently, resided in Anna Maria.
He obtained his BA in political science and MA in public administration from the University of South Florida. He worked for the Florida Department of Transportation and Hillsborough County Expressway Authority; the county of Hillsborough, where he was assistant county administrator general services; Paragon Group, where he was vice president of management services; and Florida Real Estate Advisors, where he was founding partner.
He was appointed to the Tampa Sports Authority, where he served as chairman; Florida Transportation Commission, where he served as commissioner; and served on the Florida High-Speed Rail Authority.
He was devoted to his faith, serving on the finance committee and as an usher at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Holmes Beach. He also volunteered as an AARP Tax-Aide and served on the board of the Bradenton Country Club.
A Mass of Christian burial was to be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 248 S. Harbor Drive, Holmes Beach. Following the service, the family was to receive friends at the Bradenton Country Club, 4646 Ninth Ave. W., Bradenton. Memorial donations may be made to Our Daily Bread of Bradenton; Metropolitan Ministries; or Domis Pacis Famliy Respite. Toale Brothers Funeral Homes and Crematory, Bradenton, is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cindi of Bradenton; daughter Ashley Mansour Miller and husband Dan of Littleton, Colorado; grandchildren Ethan and Kelsey Miller; sister Frances Mansour-Bergin, brothers Joseph and Michael; nephew John; and many other nieces and nephews, family in-laws, uncles and aunts.
