After weaving and swerving near the Manatee Public Beach on Gulf Drive, a motorist was arrested for driving under the influence and possessing cannabis.
Holmes Beach Police Officer Alan Bores stopped Mario G. Carranza, 31, of Riverview, after observing his red Volkswagen cross the center line on the roadway at 2:21 a.m. Sept. 18 and travel south.
Bores pulled over the motorist at 3402 Gulf Drive, where Carranza exited the vehicle and placed his car keys on the trunk, according to the police report.
The driver told Bores he’d been watching his friend play guitar at a bar, and the bartender refused to serve him alcohol.
Bores performed field tests and arrested Carranza after deciding he was impaired.
Police also found 3.3 grams of marijuana in his pocket in a search incident to the DUI arrest, according to the report.
Carranza was transported to Manatee County jail, where he refused to provide breath samples.
He also was ticketed for failure to maintain his lane and refusal to perform a balance test.
Carranza was released on $1,000 bond pending a Tuesday, Oct. 25, arraignment at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
