A personal watercraft taken from Anna Maria Island Watersports at Keyes Marina in Holmes Beach was recovered but those responsible for the theft — and possibly a stolen vehicle — are still on the lamb.
Nov. 1, the rental business reported a 2016 Yamaha Jet-Ski, valued at $12,000, stolen.
The business owner told police unknown suspects broke a cable and took the personal watercraft overnight.
Two males with short beards were shown on a surveillance tape at the marina, according to Holmes Beach Police Department.
A stolen 2002 Cadillac, was left in the parking lot of the rental business, at 505 56th Street.
“They stole the car and brought it over to steal the watercraft,” said HBPD Detective Sgt. Brian Hall.
The Cadillac was reported stolen Oct. 31 from the Cortez area, according to HBPD Detective Sgt. Brian Hall.
The PWC was found at 9 a.m. by HBPD Chief Bill Tokajer as Sgt. Mike Pilato was taking the report from the owner.
Tokajer reported a vessel matching the missing PWC’s description on the Palma Sola Causeway/Manatee Avenue West.
HBPD also found a set of keys left on the footboard of the vessel.
The remote unlocked the stolen Cadillac, which was returned to its owner.
Hall said results are pending for fingerprints from the vehicle.
AMI Watersports retrieved the PWC from the causeway.
