Three juveniles were arrested for possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a motorist in a silver Hyundai was stopped for speeding.
Holmes Beach Police Officer Alan Bores pulled over a 19-year-old Riverview man in the 100 block of 52nd Street at 3:44 a.m. Oct. 16 for traveling 48 mph in a 20-mph zone.
As the officer handed the man the speeding ticket, he noticed an odor of marijuana and asked if there was marijuana in the car. The driver denied any possession, but told Bores, he “could not answer for the three passengers inside the vehicle,” the report stated. The driver was deemed a victim/witness.
After Officer Mike Walker saw a 12-inch glass pipe on the front passenger floor, the passengers were asked to exit the vehicle, according to the HBPD report.
Police allegedly found two containers of marijuana, with 5.2 grams in one box and 4.7 grams in another, a bong, three pipes and a grinder.
The passengers were identified as juveniles, arrested and brought to the police station.
They were released to their guardians after HBPD made a juvenile referral.
Juvenile arrests are handled by the juvenile division of the 12th Circuit Court.
