Probation was ordered Oct. 11 for a Bradenton man who took an air conditioner from a home in Holmes Beach and then took a taxi to Bradenton, where he gave the driver $10 for a $40 fare.
The state reduced a burglary charge in the Holmes Beach case to a trespass before Zane Butler, 21, pleaded no-contest to both cases.
Butler was arrested in May for taking an air conditioner from the 100 block of 74th Street and for failing to pay Bruce’s Taxi in Bradenton.
Twelfth Circuit Judge Charles Sniffen adjudicated Butler guilty and ordered a six-month probation.
Terms of the probation require Butler not to change his residence or employment and not to leave the county without permission from his probation officer. He also must submit to random drug testing.
Sniffen also ordered Butler to pay $449.26 in fines and costs for the trespass and $500.75 in the theft case.
