The 12th Circuit State Attorney will drop charges against a 23-year-old found driving on a suspended license with a sawed-off shotgun if he abides by a pre-trial diversion contract.
Christopher Raible of Bradenton was charged with DWSL and possessing an illegal firearm after a Holmes Beach police officer stopped Raible in March in the 6800 block of Palm Drive and found the shotgun along with some scattered ammunition in the back seat of his truck.
Sawed-off or short-barrel shotguns are illegal in Florida.
The Sept. 29 pre-trial contract includes Raible’s agreement not to use intoxicants to excess or drugs, if not prescribed; not to violate the law; and not to possess or carry any firearm. He agreed to waive his rights to remain silent, trial by jury and a speedy trial.
According to the contract, Raible must perform 50 hours of public service work, complete a gun-safety course and use best efforts to obtain a driver’s license.
Raible may travel out of the county for employment if he notifies his court officer.
The contract also states Raible is required to pay $354 in court costs within 90 days.
