A bloom of the red tide organism, Karenia brevis, persists in Southwest Florida from southern Pinellas to Collier County, according to surveys reported Nov. 10.
Karenia brevis was observed in very low to medium concentrations in 12 samples collected from Manatee County.
K. brevis also was observed in Pinellas, Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee, Collier counties.
Fish kills affecting were reported offshore of Sanibel Island.
Respiratory irritation was not reported in the region.
