John Chappie’s record as a Manatee County commissioner is terrible. He disgraced himself by being fined $1,400 by the Florida Election Commission.
Then he voted for the Lake Flores development to add 6,000-plus homes at our doorstep, compounding our already congested traffic.
Now he advocates a 15-year sales tax increase to cover the county’s fiscal problems — also attributable to him. That’s not leadership.
Chappie is a decent guy, but over his 20-plus years of political office he has grown from a volunteer citizen to a career partisan politician. It’s his time to retire.
Bradenton Beach needs vigorous new leadership now.
