Sheriff arrests suspect in fatal shooting

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 21-year-old suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a former Holmes Beach woman.

Devon Lee Freeman of Sarasota was arrested Nov. 9 on a warrant for the second-degree murder of Moriah Hope Goode in Bradenton.
Freeman was found in Sarasota and transported to the Sarasota County jail.

Goode, 18, died at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton after being shot Nov. 6 in the 3300 block of Fourth Street East in Bradenton. A witness to the shooting drove Gooder to the hospital, an MCSO report stated.

Moriah played sports at the Center of Anna Maria Island in Anna Maria. She became a counselor-in-training at the center and was employed in the after-school kids program.
