The wife of Anna Maria Commissioner Chuck Webb was jailed for an alleged Oct. 21 break-in at the office of Island Family Physicians, Scott Kosfeld, M.D., at 3909 E. Bay Drive, Suite 100, Holmes Beach.
Flora Webb, 60, allegedly removed copy paper valued at $5 from the office. Webb works for her husband’s law office in the same building.
According to the victim affidavit, the office had been the victim of prior break-ins and had installed video surveillance cameras. Webb was allegedly observed in a recent video, which resulted in the report to the Holmes Beach Police Department.
HBPD arrested Webb at the law office Nov. 3 based on a surveillance evidence and the victim affidavit. At 6 p.m., Webb was in the Manatee County jail pending her first court appearance.
Chuck Webb is a candidate for re-election to his commission seat in the Nov. 8 election.
Janet, I find it extremely hypocritical that as a registered Republican you preach about “not judging and helping no hating,” yet the party for whom you vote has done nothing but judge and hate countless individuals, from our soon to be president to people of color to immigrants and LGBT. I can only hope that you also preach to your own registered party these principles of yours of “not judging and helping not hating” their fellow citizens, especially those who haven’t been arrested for a crime.
Sometimes you can take one event out of a series of events and it seems much worse than it would if you knew all the facts. This is one of those times. There is a lot more to this story than is contained in the one police report that appears here. But it is really a private matter and should have remained so. These families are very caring members of our community who have raised some wonderful children here and deserve time and a chance to regain their dignity and equilibrium.
We often speak about preserving our community in connection with politics. Now we have an opportunity to do something even more important for our community. I’m going on record to offer prayer and support for these families that they can weather their storm and resolve their situation which unfortunately became public. Almost everyone of us has, at one time or another, been in a position to be held up to public scrutiny deserved or not. Rarely are all the facts ever revealed not to mention comprehensively, fairly or accurately. And then the speculation begins. It is a very harsh, cold,, destructive and hurtful experience – one that stays with you for a long time – sometimes forever. I hope we can show them and each other – especially our children – the true meaning of community by loving not judging and helping not hating.
