Peggy Rauschl
Peggy Rauschl, of Cortez and formerly of Holmes Beach, died Nov. 20.
She was married to husband Dennis for 27 years. She had many friends. She was an ambitious and hard-working woman. She was the most important person in her husband’s life.
She earned a beautician’s license while in high school and, a year after graduation, she bought her first home. She ran her beauty salon for 30 years.
Boating was a big part of her life. Mrs. Rauschl started boating early, when she had a sailboat on a lake in Minnesota. She next power-boated on the St. Croix and Mississippi rivers, where she met her husband. They were part of the U.S. Coast Guard auxiliary and conducted many missions with the auxiliary.
Together they built a business that at one time had 13 properties on Anna Maria Island that they maintained.
She also was a volunteer coordinator at the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce for several years.
In retirement, she and her husband purchased property in Tennessee, where they loved walking together on the trails and seeing the leaves change.
A celebration of life was held Nov. 28.
She is survived by husband Dennis; daughter Dena; son Todd; and sister Beverly.
