Dec. 30, Bayfront Park, 200 block of North Bay Boulevard, information. A man fell from a bench while grilling steaks with friends. Manatee County sheriff’s deputies assisted emergency medical workers, who transported the man to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton.
Jan. 1, 100 block of Tern Avenue, information. MCSO responded to a complaint about a juvenile on house arrest. The juvenile’s father loaned fishing rods to a group of young friends. MCSO notified a parent about the juvenile’s status and the parent came to pick up the boys. The fishing rods were returned and Holmes Beach police officers took the boys to their parents. MCSO reported the juvenile did not violate his house arrest.
Jan. 6, North Shore Drive and Willow Avenue, disturbance. A woman with two dogs confronted a woman driving and delivering newspapers. The dog walker yelled at the newspaper carrier to slow down her vehicle. The carrier told MCSO she only drove under the speed limit and that the dogs scared her. The dog walker said she would be calling the newspaper to complain.

Bradenton Beach
Jan. 6, 2200 block of Avenue B, property damage. A homeowner reported a delivery truck struck her white PVC fence, causing an estimated $800 in damage. Construction workers told a Bradenton Beach police officer they heard a crash and observed the truck at the damaged fence and the driver picking up and stacking fence slats. A witness told police the truck had been too big to fit between the fence and the power pole on the other side of the alley. The homeowner called the truck’s owner and the officer took the report.
Jan. 9, Third Street North, warrant. A Ford Explorer stopped in the middle of the road. An officer conducted a traffic stop, suspecting the driver was either under the influence or lost. The Bradenton man produced his driver’s license but failed to produce registration and insurance. Due to an outstanding warrant in Sarasota County, he was arrested and transported to Manatee County jail.

Holmes Beach
Jan. 1, 52nd Street and the beach, warrant/ordinance violation. A 21-year-old man was arrested on a warrant after a Holmes Beach police officer observed him among a group of people, sitting on a cooler and drinking a beer. The officer arrested the man on a Manatee County warrant and cited him for possessing alcohol on the beach in violation of a city ordinance.
Jan. 6, 100 block of 43rd Street, battery. HBPD responded to a 911 call and found a woman from Virginia who told police she’d been battered by a female relative, who had already left to catch a flight home. An officer spoke to the alleged aggressor on the phone and asked her to return to the scene, but she told police she was catching a plane and hung up. HBPD transported the complainant to the Salvation Army in Bradenton because she had no money and no place to go.
Jan. 7, 400 block of 28th Street, vehicle thefts. Caught on tape, a boat trailer and a 20-foot 1991 Hydra fiberglass boat with a 200-horsepower Yamaha outboard motor were stolen at about 6 a.m. The tape shows a Ford 150, with its vehicle lights turned off, back up to the boat trailer and a person attaching the boat and trailer to the truck before driving away. A neighbor witnessed the theft.
