Dave Bristow
Dave Bristow, 59, of Bradenton, died Sept. 24.
He was born Oct. 27, 1958, in Lincoln, Illinois, to Julius C. and Rosemary Logs-don. He was married to Lisa Elaine Kipp for 35 years.
He began his college career at Stetson University, where he played basketball before transferring to the University of Florida, where he graduated with a degree in broadcasting.
While at UF, he worked at WRUF in Gainesville on a radio show called “Dial-A-Score with Larry Vettel & Chuck Cooperstein.”
A family man, his greatest loves were his wife Lisa and daughters Courtney and Cara. Though, the Florida Gators and St. Louis Cardinals tied for second place.
In addition to his role as spokesman at the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, he was an active member of the community. He was the voice of the Manatee Hurricanes, serving as the radio personality for the high school football team’s play-by-play since 1985 in the friendly confines of Joe Kinnan Field at Hawkins Stadium.
Arrangements were by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory in Bradenton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Manatee Community Foundation to provide scholarships to Manatee High School seniors accepted to the University of Florida. Mr. Bristow is survived by wife Lisa; daughters Courtney and Cara; brothers Michael and wife Karyn of Englewood, Colorado, Richard and wife Bridget of Anna Maria and James and wife Sue of North Palm Beach; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
