A North Port woman was arrested July 6 for driving under the influence of alcohol in Holmes Beach.
Melanie Bioski, 31, was arrested at 6 p.m. in the 4400 block of Gulf Drive by a Holmes Beach police officer.
According to the HBPD report, the officer was dispatched on report of a reckless driver heading north on Gulf Drive.
A Bradenton Beach police officer already was following Bioski, due to a witness report of the motorist running red lights and almost striking a cyclist in a bike lane on Cortez Road West.
When the HBPD officer arrived, the BBPD officer had stopped Bioski, who smelled of alcohol and appeared intoxicated. The HBPD officer observed multiple open containers of alcohol in Bioski’s vehicle, according to the report.
The HBPD officer conducted a field sobriety test, which Bioski failed. She agreed to provide a breath sample, but repeatedly spit into the machine instead of blowing. Following four failed attempts, she was charged with refusal to blow.
Bioski was arrested for DUI and transported to the Manatee County jail. She was released the next day on a $120 bond.
