Daniel J. Breton
Daniel J. Breton of Bradenton died July 26.
He was born Jan. 3, 1952, in Jackson, Michigan, to Aloysius and Jeanette Breton.
He raised his children in Michigan before moving to Anna Maria Island. He always said he married very well and despite divorce, credited Dawn (Korten) for being the best mom for their kids.
He was gifted with a natural ability to tear things apart and make them work again or to rebuild them altogether.
His career was devoted to underground construction and his kids spent countless Sunday drives looking at jobs to bid.
He was known for his booming voice, quick wit and gift of gab.
He loved the Florida waters and liked fishing, as well as canoeing, sand volleyball and dirt bike racing.
Sunday church was found on the back patio and always with NASCAR.
After years of requests, he got his biggest family wish when along came a granddaughter, Josephine Elle. His love for toys, Christmas, playing in the dirt, pool day and milk and cookies made him the perfect grandpa.
None of the island time would have happened without Loretta Sabin. He moved to Anna Maria after a vacation with her and they spent 20 years together until her death in 2017. He was welcomed into her family.
For the past two years, he spent his time riding a new motorcycle, Latin Swing dancing and traveling with his Miss Leslie.
He started checking off his bucket list the day he was born.
A celebration of life will be held in Jackson and Bradenton at a later date.
