A Cortez man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in Holmes Beach.
Holmes Beach police arrested George Sherow, 35, at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 30 in the 2800 block of Gulf Drive.
According to the police report, a patrol officer stopped Sherow upon being alerted by the license plate reader system to the vehicle he was driving with expired registration. Another officer also arrived to the traffic stop.
The police report stated the vehicle smelled of alcohol and Shedrow had bloodshot eyes and an open container, as well as about 20 empty alcohol containers in his vehicle.
Sherow could not produce a driver’s license or insurance and failed a field sobriety test.
Upon searching the vehicle before towing, officers also found a bag with 0.6 grams of marijuana.
Sherow was cited for not wearing a seat belt, expired registration, no proof of insurance or driver’s license and open alcohol in a vehicle and was arrested for DUI with a blood-alcohol content over 0.15.
He was transported to the Manatee County jail and released that day on a $120 bond.
His arraignment was set for Oct. 1.
