BBPD arrests Bradenton man for resisting arrest

Bradenton Beach Police Department officers arrested Bradenton-resident Huang Tran Nov. 2 on a first-degree misdemeanor charge for allegedly resisting arrest without violence.

A patrolling BBPD spotted Tran’s vehicle run stop signs and come to an unprompted stop in the middle of Gulf Drive North near Sharky’s Sea Grill, 2519 Gulf Drive N.

The officer activated his sirens and approached the vehicle. Tran, who was driving the vehicle, told the officer that he had been drinking and didn’t have his driver’s license.

The officer requested backup and a traffic unit from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office to perform a DUI investigation.

After filling out a traffic citation for running a stop sign, Tran exited his vehicle and approached the officer while yelling.

Officers warned him to get back in his vehicle, but he refused, so they pepper sprayed Tran and detained the man.

Tran was transported to the BBPD for paperwork before being transported to the Manatee County jail.

Tran was released from custody the same day after posting a $500 bond.
