Red tide bloom in Southwest Florida

A bloom of the red tide organism, Karenia brevis, persists in Southwest Florida.

  1. brevis was observed at background to high concentrations in and offshore of Lee County and medium to high concentrations in Collier County.

Fish kills suspected to be related to red tide were reported in Lee and Collier counties.

Respiratory irritation was reported over the past week in Lee and and Collier counties.
