Holmes Beach man arrested for DUI by HBPD

A Holmes Beach resident was arrested Jan. 25 for driving under the influence of alcohol.

David Curry Jr., 60, was arrested at 7:43 p.m. in the 7900 block of Gulf Drive by a Holmes Beach police officer.

According to the HBPD report, a witness observed the motorist, traveling south on Gulf Drive, driving recklessly and contacted the department. As the officer was about to stop him, Curry pulled into a nearby parking lot.

The officer approached Curry and reported he smelled of alcohol, his speech was slurred and he stepped toward the officer in an aggressive manner.

Curry refused a field sobriety test, as well as a Breathalyzer test.

He was arrested for DUI with minimal force and transported to the Manatee County jail. He was released the next day on a $120 bond.

An arraignment date had not been set as of press time for The Islander.
