Red tide remains in region

In Southwest Florida, a bloom of the red tide organism persists.

For the week ending July 11, K. brevis concentrations was observed in 34 samples.

The red tide organism was observed at background to medium concentrations in Manatee County, as well as background to high concentrations in and offshore of Pinellas County, background to high concentrations in Hillsborough County, background to medium concentrations in Sarasota County, low concentrations in Charlotte County and background concentrations in Lee County.

Fish kills suspected to be related to red tide were reported in Pasco, Pinellas, and Hillsborough counties.

Respiratory irritation suspected to be related to red tide was reported in Pinellas and Sarasota counties.
