HB set to host COVID-19 vaccination event

Who wants shots?

The city of Holmes Beach will host a Florida Department of Health mobile COVID-19 vaccination event 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at city hall, 5801 Marina Drive.

The site will offer people 18 years and older the Johnson & Johnson and Moderna vaccines.

The site will also provide Pfizer vaccines for children at least 12 years old who arrive with supervision.

The event will mark the fifth time the city has hosted a mobile vaccine site, the first since June, when it provided shots from a tent at the Manatee Public Beach.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the rate of those fully vaccinated in Manatee County is 46.5%.

COVID-19 testing volume, as well as the positivity rating and hospital admissions were on the rise in Manatee County the week ending Aug. 1, with new hospital admissions up 78.8% from the week prior.
