Hoot, hoot

A pair of great-horned owlets peer Jan. 11 from their nest near the main entrance to Robinson Preserve, 1704 99th St. NW, Bradenton. Great-horned owlets remain in the nest for about six weeks, then climb out onto nearby branches. They begin taking short flights at seven weeks and can fly well at 9-10 weeks.
