The red tide organism, Karenia brevis, was not detected in Manatee County the week ending Aug. 20.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reported K. brevis was not observed at any locations in the state.
However, there were reports of dead fish on the coastlines, including in Manatee County along Palma Sola Bay. Dead fish included pufferfish, sole, flounder and blowfish. Dead seahorses and crab also were reported.
Sarasota Bay Estuary Program executive director David Tomasko has said historic high temperatures plus higher salinity contributed to very low oxygen in the water, causing marine life to die.
