Elwood ‘Tom’ Yarger
Elwood “Tom” Yarger, 82, formerly of Bradenton Beach, died July 9, 2023, in Bradenton.
Friends are invited to a celebration of life for Mr. Yarger 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Annie Silver Community Center, 103 23rd St. N., Bradenton Beach.
He was born Sept. 5, 1941, in Sandborn, Pennsylvania, to Albert and Avanel Yarger, and grew up in that area, where he owned and operated a gas and auto-repair service station for many years, before moving to Bradenton Beach in 1985. He also worked and retired from Manatee County Government in 2002. He was recognized as Manatee County Employee of the Month in September 1998 and was presented with a Manatee County Heroism Award in 2000.
He loved collecting coins and spent several years attending antique and coin shows to support his love for them.
Mr. Yarger is survived by his beloved wife Linda; son Tom and wife Debi; grandchildren Jessica and husband Austin and Alec and wife Ivey; great-grandchildren Isla and Lando; brother Dennis and wife Bernice; and sister Carol and husband Ernie.
