Week 1: At the golden hour

Bill Shafer of Anna Maria wins the first week of The Islander’s 2024 Top Notch photo contest with this photograph, shot July 1 from the Rod & Reel Pier in Anna Maria looking toward Bean Point. The photographer wins an Islander “More-than-a-mullet wrapper” T-shirt and entry into the finals, which offers a grand prize of $100 from The Islander and gift certificates from Islander advertisers.
