Summer arrives at the shore

Beachgoers dot the sand mid-day May 16 at Manatee Public Beach, 4700 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach. Larger crowds are expected during the upcoming Memorial Day holiday, which opens the summer season on AMI. The city of Anna Maria will host a Memorial Day event at 10 a.m. Monday, May 26, at the Center of Anna Maria Island, 407 Magnolia Ave., Anna Maria.
