Bowling tournament fills lanes with jellyfish, minions, Loraxes

A team of jellyfish from Bubble Binz wins best costume Sept. 6 during the tournament, which also featured teams dressed as bowling pins and Minions from “Despicable Me”. The team won a custom bowling pin and a 12-pack of Coors Light.
From Holmes Beach-based Duffy’s Tavern, a team dressed as The Lorax of Dr. Seuss fame finishes the night Sept. 6 as runner-up in the costume contest.
A team representing LaPensee Plumbing wins the Sept. 6 tournament’s Best Team trophy for rolling 872, the highest one-game team score of the night. They won a custom bowling pin, custom Gnarly Mangrove Koozies and a 24-pack of Bud Light.
Dina Franklin wins the Gutter Ball Award Sept. 6 after rolling 35, the lowest individual score of the night. On the other end of the spectrum, Joey Newell won the top male bowler trophy with a score of 240 and Bridgette Latessa won the top female bowler trophy after rolling 144. The kids’ trophy went to Alex Serra, who rolled a 110.
