Gibsonton-based Tampa Bay Marine Inc. employees move a barge Nov. 6 to the Anna Maria City Pier while mobilizing to rebuild the walkway that was wiped out in 2024 by hurricanes Helene and Milton. Mobilization also included fencing for a landside staging area and turbidity barriers around the work area in Tampa Bay. Mayor Mark Short told The Islander Nov. 6 that the barge came loaded with the first round of pilings and TBM planned to begin placing pilings the week beginning Nov. 10 but, Short emailed Nov. 10, saying, “The winds will affect work being done (Nov. 10-11) but the winds are supposed to die down after tomorrow so TBM should be back later this week.” Islander Photo: Robert Anderson
