Holmes Beach Mayor Judy Titsworth dropped a few lines to The Islander via email Dec. 5, noting that the city will be recognizing its citizen of the year, employee of the year and community partner of the year at the next commission meeting.
Holmes Beach also will recognize board members.
Additionally, Titsworth will deliver a state of the city address this month — “a tribute to how much we have grown throughout the 75 years while staying true to our vision for low density, height limitations and preserving quality of life.”
Anna Maria Mayor Mark Short also weighed in with a Dec. 5 email, noting the city pier piling construction was back in motion after windy weather.
Tampa Bay Marine is “about halfway done” installing 130 pilings in the water. With favorable weather conditions, the pilings should be in by early January. Once in, they will be measured and cut to allow the next phase — installation of the cement bents and stringers.
Short also said in his Dec. 5 email that most of the city’s holiday lights were up and the city’s Christmas tree would soon be installed.
Also, Short said he’s looking forward to the Anna Maria Holiday Walk in the business district 5-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12.
“It should be a great event,” he said.
Adding, “otherwise, business as usual.”
