Bradenton Beach police are investigating a road-rage incident in which a driver allegedly threatened another motorist with a handgun.
Officers responded Jan. 22 to a report involving a reckless driver in the 200 block of Gulf Drive South. The complainant, a 40-year-old Sarasota man, said a motorist in a white pickup passed him while driving erratically.
The complainant also alleged the driver made obscene gestures, formed his hand into the shape of a gun and mouthed the words, “I will shoot you.” He then retrieved what appeared to be a handgun and repeated the threat before driving away.
The complainant later signed an affidavit and said he would press charges.
Police reports indicate the truck was registered to a Bradenton man. Deputies attempted to make contact at his address.
No arrest had been made as of Islander press time Feb 2.
The incident is being investigated as aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a felony, which upon conviction could result in five years in prison and five years of probation.
