Anna Maria

      Feb. 11, 100 Spring Ave., the Sandbar Restaurant, assault/trespass. A Manatee County sheriff’s deputy responded to the restaurant, where a customer allegedly put his hands on the complainant during a disagreement. The customer left the area on foot.

Bradenton Beach

      Feb. 9, 300 Bay Drive South, criminal mischief. A resident notified the Bradenton Beach Police Department of banging noises and an individual attempting to open an exterior door before walking away. Plastic trim around the door was ripped off. Damage was estimated at $600. Police did not locate a suspect.

Feb. 12, 1300 block of Gulf Drive North, fire alarm. West Manatee Fire Rescue responded to a call about a burning smell at Tortuga Inn and evacuated the structure. WMFR determined the odor was burnt food.

Holmes Beach

Feb. 10, Manatee Public Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive, petit theft. A Holmes Beach police officer responded to reports of a theft at the beach and met with a Manatee County Beach Patrol lieutenant, who said someone removed a chain and padlock from a fence.

Feb. 13, Anchor Inn, 3007 Gulf Drive, alcohol/obstruction without violence. An officer saw a man cross Gulf Drive, causing a motorist to brake. The officer tried to stop the man, but he continued walking, entered a bar and tried to hide in a restroom. The officer followed him, unholstered his Taser and commanded him to the ground. The man complied and was placed in custody. The man smelled of alcohol and the officer found an open alcoholic beverage in a brown paper bag. The officer arrested the man and transported him to the Manatee County jail.

Feb. 15, 3200 block of East Bay Drive, fake ID. An officer responded to reports of a woman sleeping on the sidewalk. The officer woke the woman, who said she was sunbathing. When asked for identification, she provided a name and birth date, which was not found. A Manatee County sheriff’s deputy was called to the scene and identified the woman using Rapid ID software. The officer arrested the woman and transported her to the Manatee County jail.
