A kayaker was safely rescued Jan. 31 after being pushed offshore by waves and rough conditions at Coquina Beach in Bradenton Beach.
According to West Manatee Fire Rescue Fire Marshal Rodney Kwiatkowski, Manatee County Beach Patrol lifeguards initiated the rescue after the individual fell from the kayak and was carried away from shore. The lifeguards were joined by WMFR and Manatee County Emergency Medical Services in the rescue efforts.
The individual was removed from the water and evaluated at the scene. No serious injuries were reported.
Fire officials credited the county lifeguards for their quick response and coordinated rescue efforts.
