Holmes Beach police arrested Vito Angelicola, 57, of Bradenton, March 8 on an alleged third-degree felony charge of possessing drugs without a prescription.
He also faces three misdemeanor charges, including driving with a suspended license and attaching an unassigned license plate to a vehicle.
An officer stopped Angelicola about 6:40 p.m. in the 700 block of Manatee Avenue after observing an improper license plate and altered registration decal.
During a search before impoundment, the officer found buprenorphine and naloxone film in the center console.
Angelicola said it was his but he did not have a prescription.
He was taken to the Manatee County jail and released March 9 after posting $3,300 bond.
If convicted, the felony charge carries a penalty of up to five years in prison.
Arraignment is set for April 24 at the Manatee County Judicial Center in Bradenton.
