A pair of third-degree felony charges didn’t stick in the case against William Boswink, 44, of Bradenton, who was arrested in front of his son last November in Holmes Beach.
Boswink was pulled over by a Holmes Beach police officer on Nov. 4, 2025, for driving with a suspended license. It was Boswink’s second offense for the same violation, so the officer arrested him.
During the traffic stop, Boswink became “agitated,” according to a police report. An officer grabbed him and tried to pull him from the vehicle, at which point the man allegedly tried to swat and push the officer away.
An officer drew his Taser and ordered Boswink to get on the ground. He complied and, when backup arrived, he was arrested.
Boswink was originally charged with two third-degree felony charges for battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence.
He also was charged with a first-degree misdemeanor for a second offense of driving with a suspended license.
However, the state attorney’s office issued a notice on March 2 that it was dropping the felony charge for battery on an LEO and reducing the other felony charge to a first-degree misdemeanor for resisting an officer without violence.
The misdemeanor charge for driving with a suspended license remains.
