West Manatee Fire Rescue District’s electorate voted March 10 to reject a referendum that would have authorized the fire district to levy and collect an annual ad valorem tax not to exceed 1 mill.
According to the Manatee County Supervisor of Elections Office, 3,454 out of 19,020 registered voters in the district, or 18.16%, turned out to vote.
Voters cast 1,864 ballots, or 56.06%, to reject the referendum and 1,461 ballots, or 43.94%, to approve it.
