Island police reports

Streetlife is based on incident reports from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and Bradenton Beach and Holmes Beach police departments.

Anna Maria

      April 16, 800 block of North Shore Drive, trespass. MCSO deputies responded to a report of individuals refusing to leave the Rod and Reel Motel. Deputies addressed the situation.

April 18, Elm Avenue and Gulf Drive, reckless driving. MCSO deputies responded to reports of boats operating recklessly in the swimming area near the Sandbar Restaurant. Callers said people in a boat navigated a restricted area. Deputies investigated.

April 28, 300 block of Tarpon Street, larceny. Deputies responded to a report of a stolen kayak from a rental property dock. The kayak was valued at $500. The case remained under investigation.

Bradenton Beach

April 17, Gulf Drive and Bridge Street, assault. Deputies responded to a report that people threw rocks at a vehicle but the suspects fled before deputies arrived.

April 24, 1800 block of Gulf Drive South, larceny. Deputies responded to a report of a woman stealing from market vendors at Coquina Beach. The woman left in a vehicle before deputies arrived.

Cortez

      April 26, 4400 block of 123rd Street West, threats. Deputies responded to a report of verbal threats.

Holmes Beach

April 20, 4400 block of Gulf Drive, alcohol/marijuana. Multiple HBPD officers responded to reports of about 200 juveniles on the beach and an odor of marijuana in the area. An officer found one juvenile with a bottle of alcohol and a bag containing 19.1 grams of marijuana. An officer seized both items and contacted the juvenile’s mother. The officers cleared the group from the area.

April 22, 2900 block of Gulf Drive, estate fraud. A woman reported that she was the executor of the estate of her mother, who died in February, but most of the money in her mother’s account was missing. She said the money had been spent on a down payment on a house where a relative lives. She provided bank statements.

April 24, Publix, 3900 E. Bay Drive, battery. An officer responded to the Palma Sola Causeway, where a woman was meeting with Bradenton Police Department officers about a battery in Holmes Beach earlier the same day. She told police her boyfriend had been intoxicated while they were at the store and attacked her near the bus stop outside. The officer filed a capias request for charges against the man.

April 26, Manatee Public Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive, camping. An officer found two people sleeping in the park after closing hours, woke them and issued a verbal warning for camping. The officer gave them two hours to collect their belongings and leave, but he returned to find them sleeping in the same location. The officer trespassed both and issued citations for camping.

April 26, 100 block of 43rd Street, lewd act. An officer responded to a call involving two people possibly having intercourse in view of their children. The officer met with the caller, who pointed him to a tent. The officer went to the tent and spoke with a man who said he and his wife were kissing when others confronted them. He and the wife denied the caller’s accusations. The officer filed a report with the Florida abuse hotline about the incident.

April 26, Publix, 3900 E. Bay Drive, open alcohol container. An officer found a vehicle with a car alarm going off and a man nearby who appeared intoxicated. Another person came out of the store to join him and said they were both intoxicated. The officer informed both to call for rides but later found the man with an open beer can. The officer arrested the man and transported him to the county jail.
