Anna Maria city clerk Amber LaRowe announced at a July 23 city commission meeting that New York-based WSP USA had completed a draft map of parking changes across the municipality.
The city hired WSP in April to complete a parking study, which the contractor has spent eight weeks on, according to LaRowe.
She said she meets weekly with WSP staff and they had recently reviewed a draft map “with significantly reduced” parking.
LaRowe said the plan includes implementing resident-only parking. She emphasized that the city would not charge residents for parking.
She added that WSP staff would attend a city commission meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at city hall, 10005 Gulf Drive, to discuss the parking study and their proposed changes.
