Isabel Stasny, 3, and Audrey Cummings, 4, dress in their “pirate best” for a photo while attending the May 17 Anna Maria Island Privateers Kids Day at Bayfront Park, 310 N. Bay Blvd., Anna Maria. All the kids enjoyed a free lunch, games and a pirate-lookalike contest. The annual event celebrates the pending end of the school year.
Some kids dig for buried pirate treasure in the sand at Bayfront Park in Anna Maria and some kids watch. The Privateers hold their annual Kids Day for kids — just for fun — and to honor longtime Privateer and 25-year Holmes Beach Police Chief Snooks Adams, who started the event in the 1960s.
