Harry R. Bailey
Harry R. Bailey, 85, of Cortez, died Dec. 1.
A memorial Service for Mr. Bailey was held Dec. 4 at the Moose Lodge, 110 Gulf Drive S., Bradenton Beach.
A remembrance from the Moose Lodge said, “Harry was a great Moose member for many years. He was also an officer of the lodge for many years off and on. When he was needed he was in there. In his earlier years, he was a big-time volunteer in the kitchen and he was the lodge repairman for many years until his eyesight started to fail on him.
“He will be missed by many of us. He was a great friend, person, Moose Member and family man.”

Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughters Nyda Bannerman and Sue Downing, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Robert W. Bowles
Robert W. Bowles, 86, of Holmes Beach and Winter Park, died Nov. 17.
Mr. Bowles grew up in Garden City, New York. He graduated from Duke University and served as a U.S. Navy jet pilot during the Korean War. He was a bridge player, golfer, tennis player and sailor. He won the world Sun Fish sailing championship at Shelly Bay, Bermuda, in 1972. His oration of poetry and of his life’s experiences always captivated those around him.
A memorial ceremony will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29.
He is survived by his sons, Robert W. Jr. and wife Jessica of Maitland, and Benjamin of Winter Park; daughters Amby Murphy and husband Tim of North Wales, Pennsylvania, and Martha Pugh and husband Steve of Frederick, Maryland; six grandchildren; brothers Dr. Richard M. and wife Josie of Shelby, North Carolina; and Dr. Lawrence T. and wife Judy of Chevy Chase, Maryland; sister Dr. Nancy L. of Shelby, North Carolina; and his companion since 2009, Irma L. Yatros, her son Dr. Gy Yatros and wife Maria; and grandson Nicholas.
John Kamin
John Kamin, 93, of Anna Maria, died Nov. 30.
He was born in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, and was the last survivor of eight children of the late Anthony and Stanislawa Pogozliski Kaminski.
Mr. Kamin was a longtime employee of M&M Candies in Hackettstown, New Jersey. He retired in January 1980.
Upon retirement, he became a resident of Anna Maria, where he enjoyed his life as an islander. He was known to many as “that guy on the Anna Maria free trolley that plays his harmonica.” He told The Islander in 2011, “I’ve met people on that trolley from all over the world, literally. All kinds from every place you could think of.”
Mr. Kamin was a longtime member of CrossPointe Fellowship in Holmes Beach and, for more than 30 years, he ministered to those in the local prison. A man of strong faith, he told The Islander he liked to go by “John the Baptist.”
He also was a founding member of the Over the Hill Gang that played tennis many mornings at the Anna Maria Community Center.
Mr. Kamin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served as a chef in the South Pacific in World War II.

Mr. Kamin is surved by his wife of 68 years, May; son John R. and wife Gail Vignola of Evansville, Indiana; granddaughter Stefanie Bladel and husband Greg of Hoboken, New Jersey; and son-in-law Tom Fox of Easton, Pennsylvania.
Harriet Watkins Nichols
Harriet Watkins Nichols, 85, of Saratoga Springs, New York, died Thanksgiving Day. She was born Sept. 4, 1929, in Terre Haute, Indiana.
She earned a bachelor of arts degree in English and a master’s in music from Indiana State University.
In 1956, she met Jonathan P. Nichols III while singing together in a church choir. They married, moved to Martinsville, Virginia, and had three babies in one year. Mrs. Nichols later taught music for more than 15 years.

Mrs. Nichols is survived by daughter Beth and husband Alex Tustian of Mukilteo, Washington; twin sons Kent of Chicago and Kirk and partner Katherine Raymond of Saratoga Springs, New York; sister Judy Fox; brother Jim Watkins; and many nieces and nephews.
Robert W, Bowles was a loving father to his four children, faithful husband and best friend to Ann Smith Bowles for 47 years. It would require several pages to describe this tremendous man. He is dearly missed by his family and friends.
