Bradenton woman arrested for DUI

A chain reaction accident on the Cortez Bridge led to the arrest of a Bradenton woman for driving under the influence.

Brigette Davis, 49, of Bradenton, was arrested for DUI and careless driving after her car rear-ended the car ahead of her, which in turn struck a truck, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Offfice probable cause report.

The MCSO, Bradenton Beach Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash that occurred while the drawbridge was up at about 5 p.m. March 1. No injuries were reported.

BBPD and MCSO officers advised the drivers in the crash to stop after crossing the bridge. However, Davis allegedly failed to stop as instructed and an MCSO deputy pulled her over in the eastbound lane on Cortez Road West.

According to an MCSO report, Davis had alcohol on her breath, slurred speech and red, glassy eyes.

Davis gave two breath samples, measuring .253 and .258. The legal blood alcohol content level is .08.

Davis was arrested and booked at the Manatee County jail.

She was released March 2 on a supervised release agreement in lieu of a $500 bond. The agreement requires Davis to report to a county officer, consume no illegal drugs or alcohol and submit to random urinalysis.

Her court arraignment is set for 8:25 a.m. Monday, April 1, at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
