With the recall election set for Tuesday, May 19, the Committee for the Recall of Mayor William Shearon announced it will conduct town hall meetings prior to the balloting. At these meetings, a committee representative and invited speakers are expected to discuss the recall election.
The speaker at the April 16 committee meeting at the Sandpiper Resort Clubhouse, 2601 Gulf Drive North, Bradenton Beach, was Vice Mayor Jack Clarke, who will oppose Mayor Bill Shearon on the ballot for the remainder of the mayor’s term, through November — if Shearon is recalled from office.
Another meeting is planned for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at the West Manatee Fire and Rescue Volunteers Hall, 201 Second St. N., Bradenton Beach. The volunteer’s hall is at the former fire station, east of city hall and Tingley Library.
Further events will be announced as they are finalized, according to the committee. Questions can be addressed to recall.shearon@gmail.com.
