A motorist arrested in Holmes Beach for possessing heroin was ordered into the 12th Circuit Court drug program.
Combining three cases, Judge Andrew D. Owens Jr. ordered Brian Demott, 47, formerly of Holmes Beach and Bradenton, into the education and treatment program Aug. 25.
In addition to his Holmes Beach arrest, Demott was charged in connection with thefts from Bradenton retailers, including a June 2015 alleged fraudulent pawn of a rented $175 laptop and a March 2016 theft of a boat parts, valued at $30.72.
Holmes Beach police arrested Demott in April in the 3200 block of East Bay Drive after a caller alerted the HBPD to a reckless scooter driver.
Police determined Demott was driving on a suspended license and reported finding three bags of heroin, a hypodermic needle and a spoon in a search.
Drug court participants waive their right to a speedy trial, submit to drug tests and must appear in court as scheduled.
