The battle for the title of World’s Strongest Man is returning to Holmes Beach.
The contest will begin Wednesday, Nov. 11, and culminate Sunday, Nov. 15, with the crowning of a champion — though organizers say events will not be public.
The 43rd edition competition is being held in partnership with the Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau at the Manatee Public Beach, Holmes Beach.
The 42nd edition also took place on Anna Maria Island, as well as in Bradenton, drawing fans and creating traffic jams.
This year’s contest was postponed from the spring due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Strength athletes — about 25 are expected — will follow a new format, including a progressive four-day schedule with two days of qualifiers and a two-day final. Events will challenge them to pull, push, carry, lift and toss heavy weights such as large trucks, cars, kettlebells and “Atlas Stones.”
Evan “T-Rex” Singleton, the 2019 Giants Live North American Champion, will make his World’s Strongest Man debut, reigning Britain champ Adam Bishop is set to compete, as is contest favorite Brian Shaw.
Organizers announced that the events would not be open to the public — or media — and directed people to pay for views on streaming video on Facebook.
