A bloom of the red tide organism, Karenia brevis, persists in Southwest Florida.
Very low to high concentrations of K. brevis were detected the week ending Feb. 14, including very low to high concentrations in and offshore of Lee County, very low to medium concentrations in and offshore of Collier County.
However, K. brevis was not observed in Pinellas, Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte or Monroe counties.
Several reports of fish kills and wildlife mortalities suspected to be related to red tide were received, as well as reports of respiratory irritation in Lee and Collier counties.
