Sharks in the hood

JC Martinez, launched a drone at a home on Sunrise Lane in Holmes Beach after hearing a ruckus on the water that he first thought was a dolphin feeding frenzy in Anna Maria Sound. Martinez told The Islander there were more sharks than he and his daughter, Jewel, could count. At first, they counted six fins breaching the water, then saw 60 or so, and then even more sharks. Scientists have said that red tide blooms can push sharks into canals and other waterways to find cleaner water. And red tide is out there — in Tampa and Sarasota bays.
