Two men remained in the Manatee County jail on weapons and burglary charges after an early Nov. 6 arrest in Holmes Beach.
Nathaniel Garrison Riggs, 18, of Bradenton, faces charges of possession of an altered firearm, concealing a firearm, burglary to a vehicle and burglary to an unoccupied structure.
Andre Romilus, 18, of Bradenton, faces charges of burglary to a structure, burglary to a vehicle, possession of marijuana and violation of probation.
A third person arrested is a juvenile, and HBPD did not release his name.
The HBPD reported that at about 3 a.m., a resident reported a suspicious situation near 83rd Street and Marina Drive, where a vehicle was parked in the grass.
The resident said he saw a young male with a flashlight, apparently looking for something in the grass.
The resident opened a door and called out, prompting the young man to get into the vehicle, which then traveled south on Marina Drive.
Two HBPD officers traveling north on Marina Drive followed a vehicle, requiring the driver to stop on Marina Drive near the Island Branch Library.
The HBPD report said Riggs, Romilus and a juvenile were inside the vehicle, wearing dark clothes and in possession of two black gym bags.
In the back seat of the vehicle, an HBPD officer observed a burned marijuana cigarette, which prompted an order for the occupants to step out of the car.
In a search of the vehicle, HBPD found jewelry, coins, empty jewelry boxes, a white safe with the door removed in the trunk, a loaded 9 mm pistol under a seat and another marijuana joint in an air vent.
In the safe, HBPD found a Social Security card for a woman who lives in Palmetto. The Palmetto Police Department later confirmed that the safe was stolen.
