U.S. Coast Guard Station Cortez crew members respond June 30 to a twin-engine center console boat that became disabled about 11 miles off Egmont Key and radioed for help after a lightning strike. Crewmembers transported five boaters and moved their vessel to Cortez. Minor injuries were reported in the incident. The Coast Guard did not identify those rescued. Egmont Key is at the mouth of Tampa Bay and can be seen from the north end of Anna Maria Island. Islander Photo: Courtesy USCG Station Cortez
