Holmes Beach police arrested Devon Guidry Jr., 30, July 22 on a third-degree felony charge for allegedly trespassing while wearing a mask and a misdemeanor charge for loitering/prowling.
Officers responded around 1:37 a.m. to a homeowner’s call about a man walking around his property in the 3000 block of Avenue F earlier that night.
Security video showed a man in a mask and HBPD found shoe/sandal prints.
Police searched the area but did not locate anyone.
An officer later found a suspect, Guidry, around 3:17 a.m. at the Manatee Public Beach, 4000 Gulf Drive. Guidry was wearing slides with prints matching those found at the trespassed property, according to a police report.
Guidry, described by HBPD as homeless, was arrested and taken to the Manatee County jail, where he remained in custody with a $7,500 bond as of July 29.
A trespassing charge would usually be a first-degree misdemeanor, but wearing a mask elevates the charge to a third-degree felony.
If convicted, punishment for a third-degree felony charge includes up to five years in jail.
Punishment for a second-degree misdemeanor includes up to 60 days in jail.
An arraignment will be Sept. 4 at the Manatee County Judicial Center, 1051 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
