Jean M. Barth
Jean M. Barth, 81, of Bradenton, died March 17. Born in Plainfield, N.J., she was a part-time resident of Bradenton from Flemington, N.J. since 1994 and a full-time resident since 2000.
Mrs. Barth was an artist for the Hunterdon County Library in Flemington and a member of the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation in Holmes Beach.
A memorial service was held April 4 at the Church of the Annunciation, Holmes Beach. Memorial donations may be made to Blake Medical Center of Bradenton. Mrs. Barth is survived by husband Herbert G. Jr. of Bradenton; son David and wife Margaret of Bradenton; daughter Caren and husband James Vredenburgh of St. Louis; and grandchildren Michael, Stephen, Thomas and Andrew.
E. Gaynor Brennan Jr.
E. Gaynor Brennan Jr., 80, of Shippan Point in Stamford, Conn., and Holmes Beach, died March 20. He was born in Stamford Aug. 20, 1930.
Mr. Brennan was a lawyer for more then 50 years in Stamford. He graduated from Georgetown University and Fordham Law School. He also was a fire commissioner for 38 years in Stamford. In 1990, he ran for Connecticut attorney general, losing to Richard Blumenthal.
Services were March 24 in Stamford. Memorial donations may be made to the Stamford Firefighters Burn Foundation.
Mr Brennan is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Merritt; nine children, Trish and husband Don Edwards of Holmes Beach, E. Gaynor III, Thomas, Ward, Ann and husband Harry Brady, Barbara Nicholas, Maryellen and husband Bob, Barry and wife Claire, and Mary Jane and husband Chris Michael, all of Fairfield County, Conn.; 14 grandchildren, Sean and Patrick Edwards of Holmes Beach, Ellie and Gaynor IV, Sam, Tatum and Schuyler O’Mahony, Casey and Claire Nicholas, Bennett and Beau Brady, Conner, Jack and Maeve.
Chester P. Claire
Chester P. Claire, 84, of Ohio, died March 31.
Mr. Claire retired in 1988 from his career as agency manager for State Farm Insurance. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Parish of Tallmadge.
Services were in Youngstown, Ohio. Donations may be made to Westminster College, New Wilmington PA 16172.
He is survived by wife Hilda; children Eric and wife Karin of Hinckley, Melinda and husband Chris Knight of Boardman, and Mark and wife Kathy King of Anna Maria; grandchildren Sean and wife Megan Claire of Atlanta, Lisa Claire of Atlanta, Lindsay Knight of Chicago, Lee and wife Erika Knight of Boardman and Gregory Knight of Boardman.
Jane M. Harrington
Jane M. Harrington, 92, of Bradenton, formerly of Lansing, Mich., died March 27.
A memorial service was held April 2 at Parkway Villas clubhouse in Bradenton. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Harrington is survived by sons Michael of Bradenton Beach and David of Los Angeles; sister Mary L. Graham of Bradenton; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Marian Grace Hartpence
Marian Grace Hartpence, 80, of West Amwell, N.J., and Holmes Beach, died March 30. She was born in Erwinna, Pa.
Mrs. Hartpence worked with her husband at Hartpence Builders, where she was secretary and office manager. She also worked at Johnson and Johnson in Skillman. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lambertville. For the last 23 years, the couple enjoyed a retirement home on Anna Maria Island, where they welcomed family and friends.
Memorial services were in New Jersey. Arrangements were by the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home of Lambertville, N.J. Mrs. Hartpence is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harry Cullen Jr.; her children and their spouses, Desre C. and Donald C. Pidcock, Heather T. and Douglas W. Pursell, and Boyd C. and Sharon M., all of West Amwell; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Alcee ‘Boogie’ Taylor
Alcee ‘Boogie’ Taylor, 87, of Cortez, died April 2. Mr. Taylor was a lifelong resident of Cortez, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II, and a member of Organized Fishermen of Florida and the Florida Institute for Saltwater Heritage.
A celebration of life service will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 10 at Bayside Banquet Hall, 4628 119th St. W., Cortez. Edith Whyte
Edith Whyte, 86, of Holmes Beach, died March 29. She was born in New York, N.Y., and came here 25 years ago.
She was a music teacher and an Episcopalian.
