Patricia ‘Patti’ Buky

Patricia “ Patti” Buky, 53, of Holmes Beach, died April 10. She was born Jan. 30, 1958, in Chicago. She moved to Anna Maria Island in 1988.

Mrs. Buky was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Holmes Beach.

She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, skiing and helping others.

A memorial Mass will be held at noon Saturday, April 16, at St. Bernard Catholic Church at 248 S. Harbor Drive, Holmes Beach. Friends are invited to join the family following the service at the Buky home at 518 74th St., Holmes Beach. For information, contact the Bukys at 941-778-8523.

Memorial donations may be made to the Ministry of Presence Inc., P.O. Box 784, Oneco FL 34264-0784, a nonprofit organization founded by the Rev. Ron Joseph that provides supplies and aid in Haiti.

Mrs. Buky is survived by husband Gabe; children Charles and wife Becky, Gabe and wife Martha, and Nicole and husband Robert; grandchildren Nathalie and Wade; and brothers and sisters Rose, Reenie, John and Charles.

Alcee ‘Boogie’ Taylor

Alcee “Boogie” Taylor, 87, of Cortez, died April 2.

Mr. Taylor was a lifelong resident of Cortez, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II, and a member of Organized Fishermen of Florida and the Florida Institute for Saltwater Heritage.

A celebration of life service was held April 10 at Bayside Banquet Hall, 4628 119th St. W., Cortez. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Taylor is survived by wife Betty; son Alcee Jr. and wife Kim of Cortez, FL; daughter Jean Ann and husband Chuck Carver of Merritt Island; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren, including Melissa Matherne, whom the couple raised.
